Rebecca Salmond Reserve Iliad Gisborne Chardonnay 2008 Elegant, concentrated wine, full and vibrant, with rich peach, melon and fig flavours and well integrated nutty French oak. Beautifully balanced wine, still unfolding. New Release Dec 09 Michael Cooper has classified the Odyssey Reserve Iliad Gisborne Chardonnay as an Icon Wine,in his book 'Classic Wines of New Zealand.' Previous Vintage 2004...Pale straw. Beautifully fragrant, toasty, mealy, slightly minerally, complex bouquet. Rich yet refined palate, with delicate peach, pear and citrus fruit flavours, complex and layered. Slightly buttery and toasty, with good spine, structure and length. Notably complete, softly textured wine. Still youthful and will mature well. Drink 2007-09. |
